Kyoto Protocol:
The Kyoto Protocol is an amendment to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Countries that ratify this protocol commit to reducing their emissions of carbon dioxide and five other greenhouse gases, or engage in emissions trading if they maintain or increase emissions of these gases. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)
The IPCC was established in 1988 by the United Nations to assess the "risk of human-induced climate change". The IPCC reports are peer reviewed and present scientific consensus on climate change.

Maine Climate Action Plan
A 2003 Maine Law (PL237) requires the Dept. of Environmental Protection to develop and submit a Climate Action Plan (CAP) for Maine. The Goals of the CAP are to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to 1990 levels by 2010. This document outlines a plan for Maine to follow in order to meet these goals.
